We have over 34 years of experience in electrolysis and are leaders and educators in our field.
Electrolysis is the permanent removal of hair from the body using a fine probe to apply current to the base of the hair follicle, causing destruction of the hair follicle.
Frequently Asked Questions about Electrolysis
Is electrolysis permanent hair removal?
Yes. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are the only two methods of permanent hair removal approved by the FDA.
What is permanent hair removal?
Permanent hair removal involves destroying the root of the hair follicle, preventing hair from regrowing. Electrolysis can be used on any hair color on any color skin, and the hair can be in any stage of growth. Multiple treatments may be needed.
How many treatments does it take with electrolysis to finish an area?
Electrolysis is a series of treatments. Many factors determine how many treatments are necessary, such as how often you wax or tweeze, and how much energy is able to be applied to the skin comfortably and safely.
What areas are best for electrolysis?
While electrolysis is very effective for hair removal in large areas, it usually takes many treatments. Laser hair removal is not recommended for areas such as eyebrows, which need detailed shaping.
Can electrolysis be used on a pregnant woman?
Yes, with a note from their OB and not on the abdomen or breast during the third trimester. (Many electrologists are not comfortable at all and will not offer treatment during pregnancy).
Do men receive electrolysis treatments?
Yes, we do have male clients who have electrolysis treatments. Eyebrows are popular! Any area can be treated with either electrolysis or laser hair removal.
